I've read much on Hitler. I will have to add these to my reading list. Thanks. :)
Michiko Kakutani of The New York Times wrote that Volume I "offers a fascinating Shakespearean parable" regarding Adolf Hitler's rise to power and highlights how Hitler advanced his political career through "demagoguery, showmanship and nativist appeals to the masses."
BOLD mine above: This may remind some Americans about a recent leader of this country. :(
Michael Longerich's work is next. I'm also reading a history of German nationalism from 1500 to 2000. Fascinating to think that Germany wasn't unified for a long time.
We have one in Australia named Pauline Hanson. Never underestimate the damage these people can do with simplistic jingoism. Noone took Adolf seriously in the beginning either.
